TESTIMONIALS

  • MYCC has been a spectacular part of my life. In my past two years apart from this program I have learned so much about my community. I learned about the committees that help our city run. From the Chamber of Commerce to the Arts board, I've discovered many of the behind the scenes to our city. MYCC has also given me so many opportunities. I've gotten to meet the leadership of Murray as well as help in many service projects with our community. I've also met some of the most wonderful people through MYCC. Finally, MYCC has helped teach me so many skills that will follow me into college. Being apart of MYCC has helped me hone my skills in talking in formal settings. It's also helped me improve my skills of communication when working with others. Being a member of MYCC has been such a great experience and has been very beneficial for me. I've loved you every moment!

  • Every once in a while, there comes an experience that illuminates you from the inside out. This event or occurrence sets your whole soul alight and you know that it is one you are going to remember for the rest of your life. While I have been lucky enough to experience many of these exceptional events, one stands out far beyond the rest. I first became a part of the Murray Youth City Council (MYCC, Murray Youth Chamber of Commerce, and Murray Youth Excel) when I joined the volunteer group for the Murray Haunted Woods. This is a fundraising project put on by MYCC to raise funds to prevent child abuse. I had no clue what I was getting myself into at first, my family just loves Halloween and it sounded fun. While I did not foresee what this undertaking would become, I now would not trade it for the world. Through MYCC, I have served my community and the people in it and have come to know my city in a way I never thought possible. I have gained the ability to communicate more effectively than an introvert like me would’ve been able to otherwise. I have volunteered at blood drives, community clean-up projects, state legislation days, and every Haunted Woods since then.\ Being a part of this exceptional group of people has not only allowed me to change my town, but it has changed me. It has helped me evolve from a girl who was afraid of the world to a leader within it.

  • I've had the opportunity to be part of the MYCC for a number of years, including before, during, and after high school. This organization has taught me invaluable lessons about service, leadership, responsibility and community engagement. Through participation in MYCC's many projects, I've seen how much effort and teamwork it takes to keep a city running. I've also been inspired to continue to play an active role in the growth of my own community, wherever that may be. I'm grateful to everyone who has kept MYCC running over the years, because I know I wouldn't be where I am today without it! I would encourage anyone, of any age, to become involved in MYCC.
